I digress to ease a compromise So we aren't caught up with what we cannot decide Without a given amount of time She confesses she pushes away As getting in tighter quarters these days Is not a mistake, it's just unscripted plays And all at once, we attempt to give the other Reasons not to expect a decent lover And had it gone more or less honestly Well it may have effected things Changed the scenery Origins of such beauty Well it's finders keepers for loners like me My interest is in the best that we can get You know I'd trace the steps and I'd call a spade a spade I've got it all figured out Until I get ahead of myself again She confesses she pushes away As getting in tighter quarters these days Is not a mistake, it's just unscripted plays

Simple Lives 04:02
Grown apart from the womb Made into a sparrow of flight Hovering down from the setting sky Towards home and warm invites...nights I recall a man who played violin Ten feet down from the ledges end Sweetly and gently about my head Til a sunset or moonrise was all that's left Such simple minds In these simple times Only fear is on the outside Of your simple life From these depths, clearly lost a few steps I've gave into shame and I'm hoarding the rain Gossip is a fever that I cannot maintain Humble is a teacher, a lesson in refrain
3.
Why Pretend 03:11
Well aside from the remains It's like you kept saying If it works or it hurts It's probly instantaneous We even kept our distance We both wanted to accept That wherever we land could prove happenstance So it makes no sense Why I'd pretend Not to let this forgiveness Color my view again It makes no sense why I'd pretend Graves we dig out of Become the smiles we're proud of In many ways we are alike but From a different take in a different place Some too tender to touch Some are a little bit much And aside from the remains We're all just saying That it makes no sense Why I'd pretend Not to let this forgiveness Color my view again It makes no sense why I'd pretend

Birch Tree 02:59
Whether fast or slow I can only hope That I would reap up what I sew Cause in due memory I would learn not Only from what I see But for goodness sake What do these things mean to me? Fond are the visions these eyes provide Tall is a sky holding in place a light I don't distance myself Like I used to do Because you'll hurt then love the ones you love Yes you'll hurt then love the ones you love With all that's believed and seldom perceived I can't help but be relieved By the wisdom of the birch tree Whether fast or slow I can only hope That I would reap up what I sew Cause in due memory I would learn not Only from what I see But for goodness sake What do these things mean to me?

Shangri La 04:03
When we fail to mention our discontention We start building concrete walls Out of discretion for the fall We're all going to take at points in time Time time time, life life life... Relief is a must Should the colorful turn to dust It's not difficult to clasp I want what I don't have It takes forever to find Shangri La The sea breeze tends to tame me I brave the risk of parting ways With open eyes and intention And this transfixed is an invitation
6.
All We Build 02:48
All we build cannot withstand The wind and the rains surrounding mankind They're not weak, and they'll crush us all All we build cannot withstand Erosion and time, the thoughts and the signs They're not weak, they'll crush us all Pain at stake, decisions to make The same shame, is littered in the wake All we build cannot withstand The rights of the land, the doubts and demands They're not weak, and they'll crush us all Wane like that moon, over the stream Like the fallen rocks, and the pine trees Shed your light on Galilee All we build cannot withstand The wind and the rains, surrounding mankind They're not weak, they'll crush us all
7.
If you could read my weathered mind Consoled and often told What it is we will find All in due or precious time These conditions I've come to know As the rails along the road Prove hopeless and cold And a bounty on the soul If you damn my water from flowin' Take the breeze from my sails Cut me down too many sizes Without regard for a commonwealth Well I've made decisions And they're quite efficient Can't hide these wide eyes On a day as fine as this If you could read my weathered mind Consoled and often told Where the sun shouldn't shine And the flowers should hide These conditions I've come to know As the rails along the road Prove hopeless and cold And a bounty on the soul
8.
Use of Truth 04:32
All that was of cost Became the dream and not The fostered ideas that made the plot Account for the fear That's hitting you near Stray you may but what's hidden will appear And these warnings Are clear as the spring They withhold what we're called on to sing It's not fate that I could choose No pride induced truce Uncompromising truth that I haven't gotten used to I... Claim you're use of truth I... However it comes to you Holding tightly to a string That's quickly withering I am bound by the fright And at loss for the fight I... Claim you're use of truth I... However it comes to you
9.
No matter where I am I have the tendencies to be forgetful Strong willed and ever still Only go so far with the weight I pull And lately it's unmistakeable Lately it's been within my control Roaming this familiar land Letting it get out of hand It's such a struggle It's such a long haul Keeping our minds full While behind mindful I'm crossing hearts Swearing up and down To be well aware Without losing ground In my solitude it pains me to admit a truth That I kill myself over what I can't undo And lately it's unmistakeable Lately it's been within my control Roaming this familiar land Letting it get out of hand
10.
And I Wander 03:00
There's so many things that I haven't thought of Yet I could understand entirely Let it be the places I was brought up I'm weak in the knees and it's harvesting Redeeming the qualities of my fate You could hear a longhearted Or the shorter explanation But the logic is too grave To stay and preach it to a nation Let it run, let it run all over me So I climbed a tree To keep listening To the songs of the robins and of the leaves Perched high in the view of the land and sea Truth in all the sounds and the sights I see When I wander Someone's got to tell ya When it's been awhile for any wishes yet to bloom Words will often fail ya So let the light run all over me
11.
Everytime you step back And truly see what you see It's like we've come to need A grip on reality You're holdin the reigns But I'd wager That our patience Is finding us consumed Though I know I could predict Though I know I could resist Isn't it more to know it's all for love And everything else is just for kicks? Everytime you hold firm And truly see what you see It's like we've come to need A grip on reality You're holdin the reigns But I'd wager That our patience Is finding us consumed

I'm taking these black beans down the mountain I'm taking these black beans down the road I'm trading these black beans for a dimebag I'm taking that dimebag on down the country road
